about

Broadway Angels

Broadway Angels is an angel investment group made up of world-class investors and business executives who all happen to be women. We all have decades of experience investing in and managing the best technology companies in the world. All of us are or have been General Partners in venture capital firms or Senior Executives in top technology companies. For most of us, we have been the only woman partner or senior executive in our firm. All of us have built great careers and portfolios along with amazing relationships with entrepreneurs and executives.

Broadway Angels invests in the very best people and ideas in start-up and growing companies. Most of our investments are in information technology, an area we all know best, but we are also open to other opportunities too. We are small investors and typically invest only a fraction of the total amount raised. We are great team players and work well with other angels and venture capital firms. We typically do not take board seats but serve as excellent advisers and sounding boards to management teams.

All of us are seasoned experts in the areas of strategy, management, corporate governance, fundraising and, recruiting. We believe corporate governance is essential to the long-term success of any company. We do not exclusively invest in women, but we are definitely open to women-founded companies. So far we have funded several. We also have invested in several entrepreneurs we have worked with in the past or backed previously at our venture capital firms. Relationships matter to us.

IVP was one of the first venture capital firms on Sand Hill Road. IVP was founded by Reid Dennis in 1980, and Reid put IVP on the map with a $22 million venture capital fund. Over thirty-five years later, the firm continues to partner with exceptional entrepreneurs to create market leaders for the future.

Since it’s founding, IVP has invested in over 400 companies, 113 of which have gone public. IVP is one of the top-performing firms in the industry and has a 38-year IRR of 43.1%.

MJ Elmore joined IVP in 1982 and helped manage and grow the funds.  She was one of the first female partners in a venture capital firm on the west coast.  Currently, MJ is a limited partner and advisor to the IVP funds and occasionally co-invests as an angel investor.
